On The Cheap: $50 Off LG’s Smartwatch, The G Watch

LG Smartwatch

As I mentioned in my thoughts on the Apple Watch yesterday, I’m not sure that I personally have a need for a smartwatch. I certainly can’t justify spending $350 on the stunning Apple Watch or $250 on the equally snazzy Moto 360. But what if there was a device with much of the same functionality, a little less flair, and a lot less cost?

The LG G Watch was one of the first Android Wear devices, can do everything the Moto 360 can, and has a slightly more staid housing (even Samsung’s has more zip). If you don’t necessarily want to wear a phone that screams “mug me”, then here’s good news: From now until September 23, you can snag this device for a mere $179 (for a given value of mere).

If you’re salivating over the look of higher-end devices, the G Watch isn’t for you. However, if you’re an Android user with a need for a wrist-based companion device and you don’t mind being an early adopter? Then, this is a solid deal for you.
