SnApp Judgements: Alien March

AlienMarchAndroidGame

Every night at 3:15 AM Eastern, Amazon gives away a free paid app through its Amazon app store. I let you know if today’s app is useful or more clutter in your app drawer that just plain isn’t worth downloading.

Today’s free app of the day is Alien March, a simple jump and shoot game. You move as a human in a spacesuit who gets out of a spaceship, jumping across platforms and shooting the enemy aliens as they pass by, all the while trying to avoid getting shot. It’s simple, easy, but ultimately—boring.

This game seriously doesn’t feel like much of a leap from the earliest Mario games on the Nintendo Gameboy, and not much better-looking either. I’m not saying simplicity in gaming doesn’t have its place, but Alien March seems so repetitive, unoriginal, and uninspired.

Now these may seem like harsh words for a simple jump and shoot game that happens to be free today. But frankly, there are better free games you can find quite easily that aren’t this derivative and downright yawn-inducing. This one’s going straight into my uninstall pile.
