Baby Panda’s New Home is brilliant! A little silly, yes, but also brilliant. I am an animal lover and defender through and through. I get it from my father who takes short rests from counting his money, working too much, yelling at people on the phone, and giving me a hard time, to spoil and smother his two Tibetan Terriers with love. Then he’ll continue to give me a hard time and tell me how I’m doing everything wrong before he watches Christian the Lion and cries. Please note, I’ve only ever seen him cry three times. One tear was shed at his father’s funeral, millions of tears were shed at the death of our first dog, and then an above average amount of tears were shed at the conclusion of Christian the Lion.

So adorable... can't... resist...d'awwwww.

Were my dad to have a smart phone, Baby Panda’s New Home would be his first and number one app. The opportunity to learn about the life of Zhen Zhen the baby panda through photos, videos, and an e-book would keep him glued to his phone for way too long. The app tells you the story of Zhen Zhen’s birth and life in the San Diego Zoo and then her trip back to China to be released into the wild. I can’t think of a happier story. I’m not sure Zhen Zhen will give us updates from the wild, but having the opportunity to read about her life up until that point and then get occasional updates about how she’s doing is enough to compel any animal lover to pay $3.99 for the download. It’s also great for kids. iTunes describes the app as a children’s book, but as my father can attest, this interactive e-book is good for adults too.
