When Bad Things Happen To Awful People: Anonymous Takes On Westboro Baptist Church

Anonymous

In the immediate wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, it didn’t take long for the vermin to come crawling out of the woodwork, to point fingers at invisible enemies. The New York Post and Fox News were immediately inflating body counts, their reporters blaming and harassing Saudi students and their friends. Pundits elsewhere were blaming ludicrous government conspiracies. Twitter was full of misinformed and hateful comments (link may be NSFW and contain triggers for stupid).

But of all these, the worst is the Westboro Baptist Church. The vilifying group blamed the bombing on “God’s rage” at homosexuality (a popular target of Westboro’s) and have threatened to picket the funerals of the victims.

WBC picket

Just to clarify, WBC is not really a church. It’s actually a tax-avoidance scam run by a disbarred huckster lawyer who abuses the First Amendment to sue people and make money, so his phony church can spread their vile, unctuous messages of hatred. Veterans hate them. Firefighters hate them. Cops hate them. Truckers hate them. Their neighbours hate them. Even Hell’s Angels hate them.

Know who really hates them? The hacktivist group Anonymous. Westboro Baptist Church is the Joker to Anon’s Batman.

After the Newtown massacre, Anon doxed the church, publishing group members’ personal information online and took to hacking the official website and the Twitter account of one of the members. After Sandy Hook, Anon released a video announcing:

We have seen your depraved methods of disseminating your message of hate throughout the United States of America… your hatred supersedes your faith… Since your one-dimensional thought protocol will conform not to any modern logic, we will not debate, argue, or attempt to reason with you.

In light of the WBC’s latest awfulness, Anon has now set up a fake Facebook page on the behalf of this hateful group, and it’s run by Marilyn Manson and Captain Crunch (somebody knows their hacking history).

Even with over 11,000 likes as of this moment, the litigious nature of Westboro Baptist Church and Facebook’s willingness to comply in cases of any kind of fraud, can bring down this strike against the group by Anonymous. So, just in case that happens, enjoy this full screen grab of the fake Facebook account. (Click to enlarge.)
