Capcom Releases Trailer For DuckTales Remastered; Woo-oo!

DuckTales

The show may have lasted only four seasons, but DuckTales firmly entrenched itself into the American subconscious during its short run from 1987 to 1990. Disney’s after school show featured the globe-trotting adventures of Uncle Scrooge, Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Scrooge’s pilot Launchpad McQuack (who later starred in the other Disney favorite Darkwing Duck), the butler Duckworth, the inventor Gyro Gearloose, and the nanny Mrs. Beakley with her granddaughter Webby. Throughout the series, characters like the Beagle Boys, Magica De Spell, and rival industrialist Flintheart Glomgold acted as foils for the show’s main characters. Every day after school (from elementary to college), people would run home to sing along with the catchy theme song and see what word-spanning, and often time-traveling, adventures these familiar fowls would be up to next. Imagine (or flashback to) the delight then when Capcom released a video game directly based off of the TV show. Now, you can relive that feeling because Capcom has developed a remastered version of the video game set to release this summer.

Head back to Duckburg with Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad, Huey, Dewey and Louie with DuckTales Remastered, a hand-drawn reimagining of one of the most memorable 8-bit games of all time.

The idea that DuckTales was widely loved isn’t a false boast as the video game is listed as the fourteenth most sold Capcom game of all time, with over 1.6 million copies sold.  What’s even more impressive than recreating the game (in HD) and expanding the roles of bit players in the previous game, like Launchpad and the three duck kids, is that the game uses hand-drawn animation in its revival.

DuckTales Remastered will be available through Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and the Wii U e-Shop. Until that happens though, satiate yourself by singing along (it’s impossible not to) the theme song in Capcom’s reveal trailer. The gaming company has even been considerate enough to add the lyrics with a bouncing Scrooge McDuck head so you can keep up. Woo-oo!
