DC Comics Comes To The Scribblenauts Universe

Scribblenauts Unmasked

Warner Bros. Interactive has teamed up with video game company 5TH Cell to create Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure, where you get to control the main character Maxwell as he goes on adventures with iconic heroes. As with other Scribblenauts games, you use your magic notebook to summon objects by writing their names out, but this time, you can summon characters and objects from DC Comics as well. In addition to the game franchise’s usual and addictive puzzle-solving tricks is Scribblenauts Unmasked’s Heroic Feats puzzles, which regularly create new situations that require different solutions, giving the game massive replayability.

“Challenges in the game encourage broader player choices all set in well-known locations of the DC Comics universe, interacting in new and inventive ways with a wide range of popular DC Comics characters,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

A few of those familiar landmarks of the DC Comics universe that show up are Gotham City, Metropolis, Atlantis, Oa, and the island of Themyscira.

The game also has many alternate versions of popular characters available within, but a draw for many will be the ability to create your own Earth Scribblenauts versions of DC Comics characters with a character editor called Super Hero Creator.

“Players will be challenged to craft new and never-before-seen characters such as Wonder Joker or Bane Lantern and use them to solve puzzles or share them with friends,” said Jeremiah Slaczka, C.E.O. and Creative Director of 5TH Cell.

These amalgamations can then be shared and downloaded by other players.

Showing a real love for and a deeper knowledge of the company’s properties, 5TH Cell has plugged into the game some of DC Comics’s lesser known characters. In the video below, you can see quick glimpses of Copper from Metal Men, Ares from Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern planet Mogo, and even the lovable, pinkish-furred Monster from Stanley and his Monster.

The game will be available for the Wii U system, Nintendo 3DS hand-held system, and PC this fall.
