Teaser Trailer For Batman: Arkham Origins Kicks You In The Face

Batman Arkham Origins

The game isn’t set to come out until October 25, but Batman: Arkham Origins has been pumping the gaming community full of adrenalin for months with teases about new characters and storylines. Today is no different. Warner Bros. Games Montreal has released a 41-second teaser trailer for the game that highlights one of those new characters to the game franchise, Deathstroke the Terminator, locked in an intense fight with Batman in a snowy setting.

This game marks a decidedly different spin on the Arkham games in a few profound ways. First, as mentioned before, Arkham Origins is put out by Warner Bros. Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, which means this game is a departure from the last two games, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, that were put out by Rocksteady Studios. However, the game will maintain the same hyper-realistic style because WB Montreal has chosen to utilize Unreal Engine 3, the development engine that Rocksteady Studios used to make the previous games.

Arkham Origins will feature awesome tweaks to the gameplay, such as the ability to use the Batwing for fast long distance travel so you don’t have spend chunks of the game gliding or grappling from place to place (although that was fun). The game will also depend more on Batman’s detective abilities, allowing you to use the computer in the Batcave to see crimes from different angles and solve crimes.

The most obvious difference between this game and the previous ones is right in the name as this is a prequel storyline that happens several years before the other two games. Black Mask makes his debut as the central villain of the game set in a time when Batman is trying to establish his place as a hero within Gotham City. That rookie status for Batman enables the game to have side missions like “Crime in Progress”, where the hero can increase his reputation by helping the Gotham City Police Department by doing things such as helping police officers go up against a gang or rescuing an informant.

Batman: Arkham Origins will come out on PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Buy this game or your nuts.
