Seizure-inducing strobe lights, bulging bags of swag, new games, and the chance to win a brand new car. QuakeCon’s exhibit hall opens at the crack of 10:00 AM, though the unveiling of that gas-powered prize is at noon, where I will desperately try to steal it. Hopefully (police willing), there will be enough time to catch John Carmack’s Keynote speech at 2:30 PM.

What’s there to do at QuakeCon then? Make sure to also check out the Mini Games in real life before and after the speech, but most importantly, try to win something. Swag is great, but claiming a next-gen graphics card through righteous victory might beat getting a free t-shirt. If constantly dodging bodies and murmuring “excuse me” is just too much, head on over to the giant LAN party (everyone is sitting) and check out the great case mods.
Needless to say, I’m excited. I’ll let you know what keeps me excited throughout the convention.
