On The Cheap: HTC Will Pay You To Buy The HTC One

Will Verizon regret passing this hotness up?

HTC was one of the first to join the smartphone party, which makes the company’s current lowest ever earnings even more disappointing. While Samsung and Apple battle for top dog, HTC has been putting out well-reviewed handsets and fighting for scraps.

In a shot across everyone else’s bow, HTC is aggressively pursuing owners of existing handsets. This isn’t the first time a handset maker has offered a buy-back program, but HTC is upping the terms by guaranteeing a minimum of $100. The below chart taken from HTC’s site gives some examples.

Some of those prices aren’t bad at all, especially $100 on a Curve or Bold. Newer phones like the iPhone 5 and Blackberry Z10 are worth more, which makes sense. In fact, the Z10 is basically brand new.

HTC’s sale is only for the weekend, from May 2 — May 5. If you’re stuck in a contract and have buyer’s remorse, this may be the solution for you.
