HP Updates WebOS For TouchPad, Opens Up My Favorite Feature

Here’s a bit of news that absolutely fits our site’s mandate: HP has updated the end-of-lifed TouchPad’s version of webOS to 3.0.4. There are some nice little tweaks (support for OGG files, a camera app at last, and performance boosts), but the main thing I can’t wait to try is the phone pairing.

Originally, you could pair your TouchPad with your webOS phone, so you could make and receive calls (indeed, if you were lucky enough to score a Pre 3, you could text as well). It’s a handy feature when you’re using your tablet and don’t want to fish out your phone. What HP has done with this update is open the phone pairing up to other, non-webOS phones. This makes perfect sense, because there are only so many in the wild, after all.
