Windows Phone’s Quest For Mindshare Continues With Temple Run And Pandora

Windows 8 Pandora

When Windows Phone 8 launched, Microsoft promised that some of the top apps for other platforms would make the transition to WP8. It took a bit, but as March is winding down, this promise has started coming true.

First to arrive was Pandora, the popular online radio app. Interestingly, Pandora for Windows Phone 8 isn’t the same ad-supported Pandora that iOS and Android users getfor free, but a full version of Pandora One, the ad-free version. That’s a sweet deal on a premium experience for what is arguably a must have app for a lot of users.

Earlier this week, Microsoft brought the gaming love with the addictive Temple Run. While  the second game in the franchise is out for other platforms, bringing the first installment to Windows 8 is a good initial step. Microsoft actually announced multiple game releases at this week’s Game Developer Conference in San Francisco. As the one real big name involved, Temple Run caught the most attention. Sadly, not all of it was positive. The game proved to be a bit buggy, and a quick update was pushed out to repair it. While the initial glitches might seem worrying, the fast repair is a good sign.

Microsoft continues to face an uphill battle with other operating systems in the mobile space, and the addition of quality apps may be the ammunition it needs to beat BlackBerry in the race for the fervently sought-after number three slot.
