SiriusXM Says You Can’t Be Serious About Free Internet Radio Trial

Recent offers have circulated the internet for a free six-month or twelve-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio’s streaming service. Normally, this service costs $14.49 per month or a $3.50 per month additional charge for subscribers of the company’s regular satellite radio programming. If one of your online buddies passes along one of these promotional codes, however, don’t get too excited. It turns out SiriusXM isn’t feeling quite that generous right now.

Thanks to a customer service employee in SirisuXM Listener Care who doesn’t quite seem to grasp the concept of internal memos, I now have the following to share with you:

Recently, certain promotional codes used to start a free six or 12 month trial of SiriusXM Internet Radio were published on the Internet on several blogs.  Unfortunately, these promotional codes were expired.    You will not be able to identify these trialers in STARSS however they may reference one of the following codes:

  • Talent72012
  • Talent062012
  • Talent092012
  • Talent122012
  • Talent082012
  • Talent052012

Agent Role

If you receive a call from someone who is asking about one of the above codes and/or why the 12 or 6 month SiriusXM Internet Radio Trial they signed up for suddenly stopped working, please use the following positioning:

‘Unfortunately, the promotion code you used expired prior to your enrollment.  As a result, your free trial period is seven days from the first time you began listening to SiriusXM Internet Radio.’

If speaking to a Subscriber:

‘I hope you enjoyed the service. If you’d like to continue listening to SiriusXM Internet Radio, it’s only an additionally $3.50 per month and I can sign you up to start listening again today. and add SiriusXM Internet Radio for just $3.50 per month.’  (Reminder to agents: there are also special savings available with the All Access plan)

If speaking to a Prospect:

‘I hope you enjoyed the service.  If you’d like to continue listening to SiriusXM, we have a great offer that will give you 30 days of free listening but it’s only available online.  Visit www.siriusxm.com/radiotrial for details on this special limited-time offer.  It expires October 9th so don’t miss out.’

If the customer continues to question why the promotion expired:

‘We caused the code to expire when we learned that it was distributed through unauthorized channels.’

If Customers are upset that they received a confirmation letter, but are not able to use SiriusXM Internet Radio promotion.

‘While we may have confirmed the transaction where you redeemed the offer code, we subsequently learned that the code was obtained through unauthorized channels.

These codes were intended for a very narrow audience and were never advertised to the public. Upon discovery, those unauthorized users of the code had their service terminated and we made them a substitute offer.’

Now you know exactly what customer service knows about the promotional codes, but don’t fret if you wanted that 30-day trial the memo claims expired on October 9. SiriusXM still offers one in a different location on its website.

shame on SiriusXM radio for not having customer services in the United States! Canada has customer service in Canada, why do I have to be shipped over to India repeatedly and not get the problem resolved? shame on SiriusXM.
