Accused Of Copying Apple, Samsung Is Caught Copying Apple

We’re fairly fond of Samsung here at Techcitement. They make good products, are kind enough to send us review units, and invite us to events. However, what kind of blog would we be if we did not point out when companies we like do something stupid? No, we’re not talking about Ch@tOn, Samsung’s addition to the ever-growing glut of chat apps.

Rather, it seems someone at the Korean electronics giant thought it would be a good idea to promote their products using Photoshopped images from the iOS version of Google Maps. I know taking screenshots in Android is tricky, but when you’re in the midst of a massive lagal battle with a company that alleges you’re copying them, you might want to be extra careful to, I don’t know, not copy them?

This sort of thing happens a lot- Verizon ads for Android phones in circulars, heck I remember some Windows Phone ads that mistakenly had iPhone screen shots placed on top.

In many cases, the companies are contracting the graphic design out to third party advertising agencies. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case here as well- its not really Samsung’s fault, rather whoever was contracted to do their ad (who may or may not even be aware of the legal battle in detail).

Still, someone at Sammy should be proofing, eh?
