Windows Phone 8 is here and for the first time in a long time, the general public seems interested in a Windows smartphone. Microsoft has heard the complaints from Windows Phone 7 users who wanted more apps. The previous attempt at a mobile OS lacked such stalwarts as Pandora and, curiously as Microsoft owns it, Skype. Now, Skype is tightly integrated to a Windows phone and a huge deal was made of Pandora for Windows Phone 8 at yesterday’s press event. All that being said, Microsoft is coming in way behind Google and Apple when it comes to app counts, which is why the operating system giant is reaching out to developers with more than words.
The company is showing its love with discounts. Developer Registration for the Windows Phone store has been dropped from $99 to $8, at least for the next eight days. That’s right, from now through November 6, you can make sure your app has a place in Microsoft’s app store for less than the cost of some food truck lunches.
So, start creating those amazing new apps to for addictive games, news platforms, browsers, and more. That $8 you spend today could be worth much, much more soon.
