Where’s The iPod Classic?

Apple’s “Let’s Talk iPhone” event is now history, and we’d like to talk about iPods first.

Apple unveiled a new Nano with tighter Nike+ integration and a new swiping interface instead of the old boring grid. They also introduced an impressive iPod Touch that is much thinner, has cameras, a Retina display, and all around better specs. The interesting bit is what was lacking though. In this slide from Engadget, we see that Apple showed a shot of the iPod family — the Shuffle, Nano, and Touch. But no Classic.

I get that the old school Classic isn’t so trendy, but considering that they basically built the current Apple Multimedia empire, it feels sad to see them go. Still, if it is indeed the end for the Classic, at least they outlasted the Zune, even if only by a day.

I still have a classic. I love it. I’ve replaced the battery in it twice. I just noticed that the 160GB iPod Classic is still listed on Apple’s website. I wouldn’t mind getting a new iPod, but I like having 40GB of storage (no Nano or shuffle) and I don’t want an iPod Touch.
I’ll probably replace the battery in my ipod again in about 4 months. Long Live the Classic!

I have the classic and love it.  160 gig and almost full.  How do you down grade to anything less?  I plug it in to my old Kaboom radio and rock all day at work.  All I need.. Well except for, does anyone know where I can find a 1969 VW convertible.
