Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?
Today’s free app is Splashtop Remote Desktop by Splashtop Inc., which usually runs for $4.99. And wow, Amazon is giving out a pretty awesome one today! It came for free with my tablet, and as remote desktops go, it’s pretty simple to use. Load up the server on your Mac or PC, load up the software on your Android device, do a little password magic and you can control your computer from your phone/tablet! You can also stream movies, music, play games… it’s a fairly powerful little program. Obviously, the more powerful your device, the faster your data connection, the more useful a tool this is, so this may not be that useful an app on your G1.
But seriously, THIS IS ONE TO GET! I know there are a lot of crappy apps that pop up for free. This is not one of them. This is, “Wow, they’re giving away Splashtop!” It’s about 12:30 AM Pacific as I am writing this. Are you asleep? Wake up! Download! Go back to bed!
