SnApp Judgments: Apparatus

Apparatus

Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?

Today’s free app is Apparatus by Bithack, which normally comes in at $1.50. It is a physics-based game, the idea of which is to get a blue ball into a basket. Set up your track by moving wooden planks, press the play button, and hope your understanding of gravity is enough to reach your goal.

The basics of the game are simple, but it does get progressively more difficult. It is a rather pretty game to look at, although the 3D perspective can make it hard to properly set up the course. Plus, it fits my criteria of what makes a good mobile game: simple enough I can play it while in line at the bank and not so involved that I can’t put it down when I get to the teller.
