SnApp Judgments: Backyard Zombies

Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?

It’s a wacky daylight posted edition of SnApp Judgments, because technically this is the second free app Amazon posted today! Earlier, Diamond Wonderland HD was the day’s free app. Now it’s Backyard Zombies by SmashGames, which usually runs for $.99. Diamond Wonderland is still available for free, without any mention as to why it no longer is being advertised as the day’s free app. However, if you look at the reviews, there are a ton of complaints that it just might be spyware. So that’s fun.

Sadly, Backyard Zombies isn’t, at least not after the first 30 seconds or so. In this platform game, zombies chase after you from both sides. Tap left to shoot left. Tap right to shoot right. Tap up to jump and grab coins. Don’t shoot non-zombie people. There’s no level progression, that’s it. It feels like a Flash game someone put together for an into to video games class. As that, it’s fine. For what would ordinarily cost a buck… eh. But at least it’s not stealing the nudie photos you took of yourself off your phone, right?
