SnApp Judgments: Preschool Cannonball Monkey

Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?

Today’s free app is Preschool Cannonball Monkey by Light Bender Design which usually runs for $.99. Are your children too stupid to figure out the physics of Angry Birds, but smart enough to figure out a somewhat more difficult control scheme? Then Preschool Cannonball Monkey just might be the game for them. It’s Angry Birds, with a cannon instead of a slingshot, a monkey head instead of wingless birds, and fruit instead of pigs. There are no obstacles, so the physics are a lot easier to figure out. However, instead of just pulling back your finger, you have arrows that raise and lower the elevation of the cannon, making it potentially slightly more difficult for your stupid, stupid child to figure out.

The game is also relatively devoid of the charm Rovio manages to squeeze in their game, so it’s unlikely that your child will be clamoring for you to purchase Preschool Cannonball Monkey merchandise. Every time some game journalist starts talking about how Angry Birds is over because they’re personally bored with the series, I want to show them how fast Angry Birds dolls fly off the shelves still. It’s not all about you! That said PCM does suck. Get this for your preschooler instead of Angry Birds only if you want to show them how little you love them.
