Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?
Today’s free app is Hockey Fight Pro by Ratrod Studio Inc and usually runs for $1.00. This may be one of the greatest $1.00 apps ever released as a free Amazon app. It’s an arcade fighter where you are a hockey player trying to beat the crap out of an opponent with touch screen buttons. Seriously, this game has everything you’d want in a game like this — decent graphics, good audio including play by play commentary, simple but easy to manipulate controls…
Really, the only thing that sucks about this game is they made it about hockey. It easily could have been a boxing game, so that the fighting is the point instead of something technically against the rules of the game. Heck, the game is damn near Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing, which I still maintain is one of the greatest boxing video games of all time.
