Bad Inventions: Lapiluv — Use An Apron To Play With Your Kids!

LapFeatured

Do you have a child who is happy to play alone while you watch TV or read a book? Would you like to feel closer while still maintaining that important bond of ignoring him or her?

The Lapiluv may be for you!

Are you looking for a way to get in more of that all-important playing-with-apps development time for your baby without that pesky holding the device or really paying attention?

The Lapiluv may be for you!

Is your little one starting to walk and gaining independence? Do you wish your baby just wanted to sit in your lap and tug at you all day for entertainment?

Don’t want to worry about your baby playing in the grass? The Lapiluv is definitely for you!

Or at least that’s how the ad should go. While this is good idea for entertaining little kids on a flight, it was developed primarily for day-to-day use. Against recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding screen time, the Lapiluv encourages both screen time and sitting for even the youngest kids. Watching the promotional video, one can’t help but wonder why the mother so desperately wants the baby on her lap if she’s only going to read a book instead of playing with the baby. In a follow-up video, some parents insist that they need to use a Lapiluv for face-to-face time and play time; it’s a shame there was no way to interact with kids before this apron was developed </sarcasm>. If you’re looking to turn your child into the baby version of a guy sitting in his mom’s basement and playing online all day, then Lapiluv is right for you!
