Israel-Based Medical Research Company Smites Cancer

Cancer just got a good solid one-two punch form Vaxil Bio Therapeutics in Israel. Dr. Lior Carmon founded Vaxil in 2006 and since then, the company has spent the last six years creating a therapeutic vaccine for cancer patients that can keep 90 percent of cancers from coming back. Not only that, but it will be ready to be administered to cancer patients as early as 2017. The vaccine is currently going through clinical trials at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem and is anticipated to not only keep most cancers from coming back but it can also help prevent them.

How does it work, you ask? Here’s the deal. Because cancer is our own body functioning incorrectly, our immune systems don’t know how to fight it like they would an infection. Getting your body to attack cancer cells is similar to getting you to punch yourself in the face over and over until you’re good and dead. Simply wouldn’t happen. What this vaccine does is activate the immune system by training T-cells (cells important in cell-mediated immunity) to destroy a specific type of molecule typically found only in cancer cells. So, instead of punching yourself, you’ll punch the lumpy and stinky clone of you that randomly appeared at your party when it wasn’t invited. When the drug is in your body, you have a big ‘ol game of cops and robbers going on in your system as your cells start to attack any cells that contain the cancer molecule. With any luck, Vaxil’s vaccine can eradicate  many forms of blood, prostate, and breast cancer, as well as solid and non-solid tumors. Cancer in the advanced stages will still require radiation and surgery to try and remove it or reduce it in size, but when small enough, the body can fight the cancer with the aid of Vaxil’s vaccine.

Nice job, Vaxil.
