BlackBerry Makes Third BB10 Device, Aimed At Two Thirds Of The World

BB Q10

BlackBerry outsmarted me. Amid rumors of a third BB10 device to debut this summer, I chided the obvious potential to damage sales of existing hardware as users waited for a third. Today, BlackBerry showed that yes, there is a third device. However, it won’t be available in the United States or Canada. As those are the two markets where BlackBerry most needs to make a comeback, that’s a heck of a smart move.

The lower-end BlackBerry Q5 is the appropriately named younger sibling of the Q10. It too features a 3.1 screen as well as a QWERTY keyboard in the style that made BlackBerry a household name. Should you live in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, or Latin America, you have an honest to goodness chance at snagging this BB10 device in black, red, pink or white.

While the Q5 is considered a budget, low-end phone, I have to admit that it looks snazzy as heck. I wouldn’t mind getting my mitts on one. If only I knew people in the Middle East.
