SnApp Judgments: Monopoly

Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?

Today’s free app is Monopoly by Electronic Arts Inc. which usually runs for $4.99. It’s Monopoly! If you’ve never played Monopoly, congratulations on making your Rumspringa pilgrimage, young Amish person. We have these things called board games where you roll dice and pick up cards to simulate purchasing real estate for entertainment purposes. Instead of constructing barns, you get to drop a little plastic house on your property, and charge your fellow man exorbitant rent in an attempt to bankrupt him, and thus win the game.

It’s a pretty little version of Monopoly, with different “rooms” you can plop your game board on. If anything, all the bells and whistles can be a little bit of a pain in the butt, as waiting for Player 3’s thimble to go through all its animations can take a while. It looks cool, but it looks a little less cool the 300th time.

End of the day though, it’s Monopoly. Go ahead and download it already. Man, ever since Christmas, Amazon has been on something of a roll with the big ticket games. Here’s hoping they keep the streak going.
