HP Touchpad Hands On/Drool On

HP Touchpad. Photo property HP.

As I’ve likely noted elsewhere and repeatedly, I’m a huge WebOS fan. No offense to any of the other great mobile operating systems out there, but HP’s mobile OS really comes through for me. Sadly, as a Sprint user, I’ve been trapped with a Revision A Palm Pre for some time now (technically, it’s a Pre Plus with an original Pre comm board in it, but I digress).

To say I’ve been eagerly awaiting the HP Touchpad, coming out July 1st, is an understatement. I was so excited to see one at Pepcom’s Digital Experience last week that I had to have someone else do the filing because I couldn’t stop fawning. Honestly, if that’s not techcitement, then I don’t know what is!

Seriously, the new tablet version of WebOS (3.x) is great and has many long-awaited features: a virtual keyboard, notifications moved to the top (ala Android and now iOS), far more robust web client, retooled video and photo app, touch to share, and a score of other features. They’ll even have a keen Facebook app built by HP themselves, so it will mesh perfectly.

We’ve got a six minute video below, and it barely scratches the surface of the coolness.
