If you didn’t get what this is about from the headline, then shame on you for not being geek enough. The much beloved Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is coming to iOS. Not the books, mind you — Hothead Games has created an actual interactive guide, complete with the biting humor of the original.
Joel DeYoung, Director of Game Technology at Hothead Games, had this to say about bringing the Encyclopedia Galactica challenger back to the gaming world.
“We’re super excited to be involved with such a legendary creation as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The quirky and hilarious universe that Douglas Adams created became an instant classic for so many. All the hoopiest froods here at Hothead jumped on the chance to work on the project.”
There’s nothing inherently iOS about this, so it’s possible that we’ll eventually see this app on other tablets besides the iPad, which would be insanely hoopy. Don’t break out the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster yet though as the Hitchhiker’s Guide is only taking emails now to keep you updated on the progress of the game. Meanwhile, you’ll have to make do with the Earth equivalent of the Guide.
