Karma App Helps You Pick The Perfect Gift, You Clueless Goober

It’s happened to all of us. There’s someone special in your life, maybe a parent, maybe a significant other. It’s their birthday/bar mitzvah/parole hearing and a gift is called for. You love them to pieces, but you don’t have the faintest idea what they might want. Instead of getting them something they actually want, you stare at the store shelves for 90 minutes before caving and buying a Chia Pet. Karma, a new free app for iPhone and Android, aims to save you from that bad gift-buying embarrassment.

Through a quick analysis of your giftee’s demographic information and Facebook interests, Karma suggests a number of gift options for you to buy and then notifies the recipient of your gift via text that you’ve sent them some goodies. The lucky person can then customize attributes of the gift (size and color for clothing, say) to their heart’s content. And if your special someone already has everything he or she wants, Karma has the option to donate the value of the gift to charity. Or the gift can be exchanged for something else if you still managed to get it wrong, you well-meaning goof, you.
