DROID News: Official Bionic Stats And DROID HD Revealed?

Big news this week in the world of Motorola-developed Android mobile phones — official stats for the DROID Bionic were revealed in official literature and Engadget posted the first images of the long-rumored, still-in-development DROID HD.

First, let’s take a look at the phone whose official name we actually know. According to a leaked Tips and Tricks guide, the 4G LTE phone will have a 4.3″ qHD screen, dual core 1GHz processor, 1GB LP DDR2 RAM, 8MP rear camera capable of shooting 1080P video with an LED flash that they say has low-light performance and shutter lag that “rivals that of a digital camera,” 16 GB of onboard storage plus a pre-installed 16GB microSD card, a front camera and HDMI mirroring.

In the “free software or bloatware, you decide!” department, the phone will come with ZumoCast, which allows for media streaming and MOTOPRINT, which lets you use a printer from your phone via wifi.

While the Bionic hasn’t been given an official release date yet, it should release within the next couple of weeks.

Making the decision to pick up the Bionic that much more confusing however, were the images Engadget posted of what appears to be the long-rumored DROID HD. They’re saying this device is going to have a 4.5″ display, at least all the tech specs of the Bionic, be super thin at somewhere between 8.5mm and 9mm and the big change, may indeed have a removable battery, which it was rumored not to have. Actually, it may have a GIANT removable battery that covers nearly the entire phone.

There is even less of a release date for the DROID HD (which may not be its final name) than for the DROID Bionic, although rumor has it that it may be released prior to the holidays. Which raises the question, do you buy a phone now and risk it being made obsolete by the very same phone manufacturer two months later?
