Sprint was just really excited, ok?

Sprint's typo, highlighted!

Sprint recently launched their eco-friendly Android handset, the Samsung Replenish.

Aside from being one of the few candybar-shaped keyboard toting Android handsets out there (ala Blackberry/Treo), Sprint is particularly proud of the “green” aspects of this handset. So much so, in fact, that it is currently the only contemporary handset to NOT require the new premium data fee charged for all smartphones. How’s that for a little eco-friendly incentive?

That’s news enough in and of itself, but what really tickled my fancy here was their advertising department. Apparently, they were so excited to break this news to the world that someone forgot to use spell check. So, you’ll apparently be saving $10 off your “montly” bill instead of your monthly one. I’m not sure how often a mont is, but hey- $10 off is still $10, so sign me up!

Now, all joking aside, I am painfully aware that Adobe’s Flash environment lacks a native spell checker, so these kinds of things happen. But this is not the first time I’ve seen an ad from this carrier that made me wonder who (if anyone) is in charge of proofreading. Back in 2008, I blogged about Sprint’s ad for the Rant in which they claimed you could “experience texting at 3G speeds”. Technically, the SMS protocol travels over the voice side of the network, which doesn’t benefit from 3G at all, making the tagline seem unintelligent.

I love Sprint, I really do. But they need all the positive marketing they can get, and you have to wonder why they let stuff like this slip by.
