Upon seeing the new Mac Pro, my first response is to say,\u00a0 “Hello, sexy.” Back in the 90s, I lusted after the Apple Cube, an attempt at changing how people looked at desktop computers. The Cube was a cube enclosure (thus the name) with an upgradable body that slid out (for a limited value of upgradable). Unfortunately, the computer flopped, and it’s even something of a collector’s item now.<\/p>\n

Apple has clearly borrowed from the Cube concept when making the new Mac Pro, a\u00a0cylindrical compact-yet-upgradable powerhouse. The new Mac Pro lacks an optical drive, which is odd in a Pro device. But let’s be honest, you’re already using an external, right? That Apple gave us a sneak peak of coming hardware like this is a departure for the company, and the giant might be doing so as a response to pundits claiming that Apple\u00a0innovation\u00a0is dead.
