The Cube was a cube enclosure (thus the name) with an upgradable body that slid out (for a limited value of upgradable). Unfortunately, the computer flopped, and it&#8217;s even something of a collector&#8217;s item now.<\/p>\n<p>Apple has clearly borrowed from the Cube concept when making the new Mac Pro, a\u00a0cylindrical compact-yet-upgradable powerhouse. The new Mac Pro lacks an optical drive, which is odd in a Pro device. But let&#8217;s be honest, you&#8217;re already using an external, right? That Apple gave us a sneak peak of coming hardware like this is a departure for the company, and the giant might be doing so as a response to pundits claiming that Apple\u00a0innovation\u00a0is dead.
