I just wanted to give a quick shout-out to the big-wigs over at Shell. They thought it best to generate an online discussion of oil spill’s damaging effects of the environment and willingly let the internet troll and slander their sleek reputation.
That’s what I wanted to say, but the Arctic Ready website is a clever ruse garnished with pretend legal action to sweeten the illegitimate morsel. Rumors circulating the internet purport that it was arranged by The Yes Men; a group dedicated to societal education through hilarious (effective) trolling. The hoax forced attention onto Shell’s drilling in the Arctic Circle and its callous demeanor towards indigenous wildlife, all through a sly wink and nod.
The advertisements are successful as I’ve already made one and spread it to my friends. Surely, those friends will spread it to their friends, and they theirs. I can only assume that a real legal battle will begin shortly.
