Anime Expo Exclusive Interviews: Kill3rCombo And Elsword

Last week, I had the chance to attend Anime Expo in Los Angeles. As luck would have it, there were several tech-related companies in attendance that I was able to interview. Earlier, I posted the interview I had with Nico Nico. Today, you get to find out more about the game publisher Kill3rCombo and their game Elsword.

For those of you who prefer to read instead of watch, Kill3rCombo is a new online PC game publisher, a spinoff of publisher Level Up! Games, focusing on online multiplayer action games. Their first title Elsword, by Korean developer KOG Studios, is a comic book-inspired fantasy-based hack-and-slash 2D platformer. Think the adventure mode on Super Smash Bros. Brawl or a persistent online version of something like Castlevania . In fact, the PvP mode of Elsword looks a little like Smash Bros., a simple-controls 2D head-to-head brawler. It’s free though and with online play that actually works (dang friend codes), changeable costumes (although some of those cost money), and at least 80% less Jigglypuff.

They don’t talk about it much in the video, but Kill3rCombo‘s next title, currently titled Fighter’s Club, looks even more intense. There are a number of action-based multiplayer online titles like Elsword already in the marketplace, but they all tend to be more in the vein of fantasy-action games. The little bit of video that was shown of Fighter’s Club vibed pure Double Dragon or Final Fight.

Because that game is going to take a while before it comes out, enjoy the Elsword trailer for now instead.
