Nintendo Tightens Belt, Commitment To 3DS

Before the proverbial ink has even had a chance to dry on Nintendo’s press release, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has notified the world that he and other executives are taking an up to 50 percent pay cut to soothe stockholder fears that the company’s newest platform will now be sold at a loss.

President Iwata and Nintendo's Latest Money Pit

Sluggish sales indicate that a system designed to be played while on the go with a gimmick that only works if held an exact distance from your face may not have been the most prudent move. The 3DS had shipped an estimated 710,000 units by the fiscal quarter ending on June 30th, and the company reported a loss of $330 million between April and June.

The price drop begins in Japan on August 12.

    From the article;
    “Sluggish sales indicate that a system designed to be played while on the go with a gimmick that only works if held an exact distance from your face may not have been the most prudent move. ”
