Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?
Today’s free app is Everlands by Hexage Ltd which ordinarily runs for $1.99. Oh my god, not another connect three puzzle game! Which, actually, it isn’t, it just looks exactly like one.
Everlands has more in common with a collectible card game than Bejeweled. You’re crunching numbers and putting down your best animals to defeat other animals in some sort of bizarre, cutsey animal death match, converting their zombie corpses to your cause. Minus the zombie corpse part, you just get to keep the animals you defeat. On the one hand, it’s different from most of the games I’ve seen on the Amazon market. On the other hand, I find collectible card games duller than Ben Stein reading tax law even in the best of times. If you like them, this might be something for you to mess around with. You’d probably be a better person to judge whether or not this game sucks. Not for me, though. I think I’m going to go load up Flick Kick Football again. I find that game oddly addicting.
