SnApp Judgments: Word Pops

Every night at 12:15 AM Pacific, Amazon gives away a free paid app through their Amazon app store. As I am usually awake at 12:15 AM Pacific, why not let you know if today’s app is useful, or just more clutter in your app drawer?

Today’s free app is Word Pops by Larva Labs Ltd., which usually runs for $1.99. Basically, it’s Boggle meets Tetris. Bubbles with letters fill up the screen. Make words with them and they pop. Don’t, and they fill up, ending your game.

In theory, this game should be awesome. Except as far as I can tell, you can only make words out of a minimum of three letter consecutive words. Mostly, this left me with words like OOOOHAAAAAAAAIIIIIEEEEE. The real words I could pull together were mostly three letter words, some of which I’m not even sure are real, but the game let me get away with anyway. This is a game that should be far more fun than it is, but in its current state, it’s an easy pass.
