League Of Legends World Championship Quarter Finals Airs Today

Title page

The World Championship for Riot Game’s insanely popular free-to-play MOBA League of Legends has already started. Qualifying matches were aired on October 4, and the quarter finals will be aired today at 2:00 PM CST. Tomorrow, the last quarter finals match airs, along with  the semi-finals games. The World Championship is set for October 13. Twelve International cyber-sports teams, with corporate sponsors, scramble for $2 million in prize money, the largest prize pool in eSports history.

Last night, eight teams fought for a chance to play in the quarter finals against Team SoloMid, Moscow Five, Team WE, and Taipei Assassins, the four seeded teams. In Group A, Azubu Frost moved forward and will play against Team SoloMid, and Invictus Gaming must now overcome the Moscow Five. In Group B, NaJin Sword will move forward to face Taipei Assassins, while CLG EU prepares to face Team World Elite tomorrow. NaJin Sword obliterated the opposition through tight and aggressive pokes and tower dives, pouncing on and punishing every misstep by their opponents with lightning fast team reactions; Azubu Frost is equally as terrifying.

Yesterday, the shout casters did a great job of commentating on the games and describing the plays and counter plays of each team in real time. League of Legends is incredibly fun to watch and a generally easy game to understand, even for the uninitiated. Tournament level players fighting over $2 million is an astonishing representation of what some call a casual game. These players outclass the world, and their dirty tricks and team plays are the absolute best.

The streams are free to watch and the game is free to play. The first match starts at 2:00 PM CST. Who are you betting on?
