File this one under “Only in Japan”.

In the country famed for vending machines that dispense anything from underwear to entire watermelons, The Digital Reader reports that a company named Glory debuted a new one last week at the Tokyo eBook Fair: an eBook vending machine.

Aimed at people who want to read books on their smartphones, the machine features a screen display that allows users to find and select ebooks. It then prints a receipt with a QR code that users can scan to download their purchased ebook.

No plans have been announced to bring the machine to the United States, so no chance yet to fulfill my dream of buying War and Peace at the laundromat.
