CES Day Two Recap: Tablets News (Mostly)

With the Pantech Element Waterproof Tablet, the possibilities are endless. Browsing the web while lounging in the pool? Check me off for one. Running on AT&T with Android 2.3.5, powered by a 1.5 GHz processor, and LTE on an 8 inch screen, this tablet is perfect for water-friendly folk.

Asus Eee Pad MeMO Tegra 3 running Ice Cream Sandwich on a 7 inch screen for $249? Made by a reputable company? Nuff’ said, I’m sold.

The already extremely popular Transformer Prime TF201 has been upgraded with a 1920×1200 display, along with a new back that allows for better WiFi and GPS reception. While slated to be a little more expensive than the original, this tablet truly has the best of everything and is still compatible with the original Transformer Prime keyboard dock.

The Transformer Prime that just got upgraded? Meet its competition in the Lenovo IdeaPad S2. Super thin and lightweight, the S2  features a dual-core Qualcomm processor with a keyboard dock. Adding extra battery life, SD card reader, and two USB 2.0 ports, this dock really extends the functionality of this tablet.

The more technologically advanced of Lenovo’s new tablets, the Lenovo IdeaPad K2 sports a Tegra 3 processor, 1920×1200 IPS display, four-speaker surround sound, and of course, runs Ice Cream Sandwich.

Representing the cheap tablet segment, the $170 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-running Viewsonic ViewPad E70 packs a 7-inch 800×480 screen and a 1GHz single-core processor. While it does have front and rear-facing cameras, something the Kindle Fire and Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet lack, $170 may still be too high of a price for this compromising tablet.

There have been many exciting announcements so far this CES, and the following days will surely only bring more exciting devices and advancements that truly make me techcited. Stay tuned to Techcitement for more recaps and updates as they happen.
