Google Maps Comes Inside

Google’s much-beloved map software has just taken it to a new level – again. Google Maps 6.0 for Android, released today, will allow users to find their location inside as well as out. The search giant has partnered with IKEA, Home Depot, Federated Department Stores (meaning it will be coming to Macy’s and Bloomingdales), as well as some airports.

This is a pretty neat solution for people tired of looking for the “You Are Here” map at the mall. Time will tell if this takes off though.

There’s an Ikea near me, and I’ll try to test this out soon. If I get lost, I’ll have to survive on Swedish meatballs and ginger snap cookies.

Everything old is new again.. Bing added mall maps last year and airport maps during the summer I think. http://www.bing.com/community/site_blogs/b/search/archive/2011/08/03/new-airport-maps-for-bing-and-mall-maps-come-to-mobile.aspx
